- Accumulator
- A single bet that links multiple selections; all must win for the bet to pay out.
- Arbitrage
- A strategy that exploits differing odds across bookmakers to guarantee a profit regardless of the result.
- Asian Handicap
- A split handicap that reduces the possible outcomes to two, often eliminating the draw option.
- Back Bet
- A bet that a specific outcome will happen, the opposite of a lay bet.
- Bankroll Management
- The practice of deciding how much money to risk on each bet to protect your funds over time.
- Bet Slip
- A record of the selections you have made and the amount you are wagering on each.
- Betting Exchange
- A platform where bettors can back or lay outcomes against each other, rather than against a bookmaker.
- Bookmaker
- A company or individual that sets odds and accepts bets on sporting events.
- Both Teams To Score
- A bet on whether each team will score at least one goal during the match.
- Cash Out
- A feature allowing you to settle a bet before the match ends, locking in a profit or limiting a loss.
- Closing Line
- The final set of odds offered just before a match begins, used to evaluate the quality of a bet.
- Double Chance
- A bet that covers two of the three possible outcomes (win, draw, or loss) in a single wager.
- Draw No Bet
- A bet that returns your stake if the match ends in a draw, otherwise you win if your chosen team wins.
- First Goalscorer
- A bet on which player will score the first goal in the match.
- Juice
- The commission or fee a sportsbook charges for taking a bet, usually built into the odds.
- Kelly Criterion
- A mathematical formula used to calculate the optimal proportion of your bankroll to wager for maximum growth.
- Lay Bet
- A bet that a specific outcome will not happen, essentially acting as the bookmaker on a betting exchange.
- Line Movement
- The change in odds or point spread over time as more bets are placed or new information becomes available.
- Live Betting
- Placing bets on match events after the game has started, with odds that update in real time.
- Moneyline
- A bet on which team will win the match, with odds expressed as a positive or negative number.
- Over/Under
- A bet on whether the total number of goals in a match will be higher or lower than a set number.
- Payout
- The total amount of money you receive back if your bet wins, including your original stake.
- Point Spread
- A handicap applied to the favored team to level the playing field, requiring them to win by a certain margin.
- Stake
